HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush Arcade Game Modes
The structured playlists separate from free roam: six named modes, couch split-screen, and online fields.
HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush is not only open-world icons. Milestone’s official site lists a set of structured modes you can run solo, offline with friends, or online. They sit beside free roam, not inside it. If you came from Unleashed, this is the familiar “pick a mode and go” layer. If you came from a Horizon-style festival, this is the playlist you open when you want rules instead of a Daredevil in traffic.
Launch is still September 10, 2026 (Ultimate Early Access September 7). This page is a mode card, not a live lobby browser. Pair it with platforms for player counts and with challenges so you do not confuse a map activity with a playlist.
The six named modes
Official copy on Milestone’s Infinite Rush site names these playlists:
- Quick Race — get on track and go. The shortest path to a class-matched race without building a custom layout.
- Elimination — last vehicle standing wins. A shrinking or knockout field, not a tourist photo.
- Waypoints — the checkpoint chase. Hit gates in order; the island becomes a point-to-point rather than a loop you invented.
- Smashing Wheels — hit every target to score big. This is the arcade target attack. It is not the same as a free-roam Stuntman smash icon, even if both want a Titan.
- Time Attack — race the clock. Official listing marks it online-capable. Speeder homework: long sightlines, boost fed by speed.
- Drift Master — own every turn. Drifter homework. Official listing supports online, offline, and split-screen.
Each mode has its own rules and pace. You will still pick a class. Structured races are built class-versus-class, so a Titan Time Attack is the wrong question. Read vehicle classes before you queue a specialist playlist in the wrong toy.
Vandal’s hands-on note adds a useful split: some races lock you into a section of the world that behaves like a circuit, and a separate arcade layer offers ten circuits per island for split-screen or online. Treat “ten circuits per island” as preview reporting, not as a Milestone bullet on the official mode list. The six names above are the ones the developer site actually prints.
Solo, split-screen, online
Play solo, with friends, or online. Split-screen supports up to four players. Online fields go to twelve, except Nintendo Switch 2, which is listed at six racers and sits outside full cross-play. PC online uses Epic Online Services and Easy Anti-Cheat.
Official mode icons mark which playlists support online, offline, and split-screen. Time Attack is the one Milestone badges as online-only in that grid. If you want a couch night without accounts, Quick Race, Elimination, Waypoints, Smashing Wheels, and Drift Master are the ones the same grid marks for local play. Confirm in-game if a day-one patch changes a badge.
Cross-play (every platform except Switch 2) applies to the online playlists that allow it. Do not invite a Switch 2 friend into a twelve-car Xbox lobby and blame the wiki. Details and frame-rate targets live on platforms.
How modes differ from free roam
Free roam is where Daredevils, Tourist photos, Delivery Stunts, and island Rush Masters live. You drive the toy city until an icon makes sense. Playlists are the opposite: you pick the rule, the class, and you go. Use free roam to unlock cars and bosses (getting started, Rush Master). Use playlists when you already have a squad and want a clean race.
Track Builder is a third toy: you snap orange modules to the island and can add virtual opponents with action markers. That is not Quick Race. See the Track Builder guide.
What to queue first
New players: one Quick Race in a Versatile to feel class-matched traffic, one Drift Master if the island is tight, one Time Attack only after boost refill makes sense in controls. Skip Elimination until you can swap a Rush Squad without thinking. Smashing Wheels is a Titan night, not a Speeder night.
After launch, leaderboards and asynchronous challenges exist in Milestone’s pitch. This page will not invent season reset dates. Come back to the Tools Hub for specs; come here when you need the six names and the couch-versus-online split.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What arcade modes are in Infinite Rush?
Milestone lists Quick Race, Elimination, Waypoints, Smashing Wheels, Time Attack, and Drift Master. They sit beside free roam, not inside the open-world icon layer.
Can I play these modes in split-screen?
Split-screen supports up to four players. Milestone's mode grid marks most of these playlists for local play; Time Attack is badged online. Confirm in-game.
How many racers online?
Up to twelve on PS5, Xbox, and PC. Switch 2 is listed at six and is excluded from full cross-play. See platforms.
Is Smashing Wheels the same as a Stuntman challenge?
No. Smashing Wheels is a structured arcade playlist. Stuntman / Destroy Everything are free-roam map activities. The challenges guide covers the map icons.
Do I need a specific class for each mode?
Structured races are class-matched. Time Attack leans Speeder, Drift Master leans Drifter, smash scoring leans Titan. Start from vehicle classes.
