HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush Build a Rush Squad
One Versatile, one Titan, one Drifter, one Speeder, swapped in the world rather than in a pause menu.
A Rush Squad is the garage idea that makes Infinite Rush different from pick-a-favourite-and-pray. You choose one car from each of the four classes (Versatile, Titan, Drifter, Speeder) and swap between them on the fly while you roam an island. Free-roam events, smash piles, drift gates, and sudden Daredevil chases all assume you can change tools without resetting the session. If your squad is three Speeders and an empty slot, the game will feel broken. It is not broken. You brought a toolbox with one wrench.
This guide is for the week before launch (September 10, 2026; Ultimate Early Access September 7) and the first nights after. It will not rank every one of the 150+ launch cars. Use vehicle classes for identity and best cars for early names. Use this page for the four-slot discipline.
The four classes, in squad language
Versatile. All-rounders. The slot people skip because it looks average. Keep it. Mixed routes, Delivery Stunts with a health bar, and I-do-not-know-what-this-icon-is moments are why the class exists.
Titan. Massive and powerful. Smash jobs, Stuntman timers, and any event that wants weight. Titans also have their own boost-management identity; official copy calls out unique boost behaviour, including a penalty if you dump the meter. Do not treat them as Speeders with extra hit points.
Drifter. Agile corner cars. They recharge boost through drifting and they own gated Drift Stunts. Canals, alleys, temple approaches. If Drifty Temples feels undrivable, this slot is empty or ignored.
Speeder. Fast. Long Wheelswood avenues, coastal roads, any event that wants you to sit at top speed so the nitro-like meter refills. Preview coverage says boost refills at top speed and while drifting; Speeders are the first half of that sentence.
Structured track races are class-versus-class. The track dictates the required class, and Milestone built layouts around each category instead of forcing every car onto the same course. Free roam is the opposite: figuring out which class fits the objective is part of the challenge. A Rush Squad is how you answer both without a loading screen back to the garage.
How swapping is supposed to feel
Swapping is a driving action, listed next to boost and drift on the controls page. Bind it somewhere you can hit while sliding. Practice in Wheelswood: avenue as a Speeder, alley as a Drifter, smashable street clutter as a Titan, unknown side event as a Versatile. If you have to pause, pick a car, and unpause, you have not built a squad. You have built a menu.
You start the campaign with a small roster. Fill the four slots with whatever you have, then grow the collection through events, Daredevils, Delivery Stunts, and island Rush Masters. A stock Titan that exists beats a mythical Speeder that does not. Deluxe’s Vehicle Pass and Ultimate’s Ferrari pack are extras on top of a loop that already pays cars. Hunt the map before you assume a pass is required to field four classes.
Why class-locked events punish the wrong pick
If a race banner says Drifter, your Speeder is not a clever counterpick. Class-versus-class design is there so tracks can be extreme: Titan courses can throw smash modules; Drifter courses can throw gate sequences a fast car cannot rotate through. Bringing a thumbnail favourite into the wrong banner is how night one feels unfair.
Open-world icons are quieter about class but just as opinionated. Challenges in short: Daredevil 1v1, match the hunted car’s job if you can, otherwise Versatile. Tourist, whatever sits still for the photo. Drift Stunt, Drifter. Stuntman and Destroy Everything, Titan. Delivery Stunt, the class that keeps the health bar alive, often Versatile. Boost stunts, Speeder or Drifter depending on whether the line is a straight or a slide.
Wrong picks are not a hidden stat check. They are you using a hammer on a screw. Swap. If you cannot swap because the slot is empty, that is a collection problem, not a handling problem. Go find a Daredevil or finish a Delivery. Geography for where those live is on the islands guide.
Building the first squad
Night one: one of each class, even if the cars are ugly. Night two: replace the weakest slot with a Daredevil win or an event reward. Customization (stickers, liveries, the new wheel editor) is cosmetic; it does not fix a missing class. See Track Builder after the squad is real.
Perks exist and interview notes describe ranks with trade-offs that refine a class instead of erasing it. This wiki will not invent perk trees. Equip what the menu explains.
Online and split-screen still use these classes. A friend on a Speeder does not cover your empty Drifter slot. Platform notes sit on platforms. First-hour setup remains Getting Started.
The fourth slot is the one you keep swapping, not the one you forget. Versatile is not a participation trophy; it is how mixed islands stay playable. If every event feels like the car is wrong, look at the banner before you look at the stick. Then look at the squad. Then look at the guides hub only if you still need islands, bosses, or a reminder that launch has not happened yet. A Rush Squad is four answers you can deploy without a loading screen. Treat empty slots as the actual difficulty setting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many cars are in a Rush Squad?
Four: one Versatile, one Titan, one Drifter, and one Speeder. You swap between them on the fly while exploring. A squad of four Speeders is not a Rush Squad.
Can I change cars during a structured race?
Structured races are class-versus-class; the track asks for a category. Free roam is where instant swaps shine. Build the squad for exploration and for arriving at the right class-locked banner with the right car already selected.
What happens if I bring the wrong class?
Class-locked events punish it. Drift gates will not care about your Speeder's top speed. Smash timers will not care about your Drifter's agility. Swap, or go collect the missing class via challenges.
Do I need Deluxe or Ultimate to fill four classes?
No. The base game launches with 150+ vehicles and activities that award cars. Vehicle Pass and Ferrari packs add extras. Preview reporting has said there are no launch microtransactions for base content. See editions.
Which class should be my default roam car?
Versatile, until the next icon tells you otherwise. Swap to Speeder on avenues, Drifter on canals and alleys, Titan on smash piles. Defaulting to a trailer favourite is how squads rot.
Is Rush Squad the same as beating a Rush Master?
No. The squad is your four-class loadout. A Rush Master is an island boss you unlock by completing events. You want a complete squad before you take those fights. Boss loop: Rush Master guide.
